Bhutan offers a surprising range of places to stay and eat for such a small country, from the simple and heartfelt to the genuinely world-class.
Where to stay
Standard tourist hotels are comfortable, government-classified three-star properties — clean and welcoming, with private bathrooms and heating. Above these sit excellent boutique hotels and, at the top end, some of the finest luxury lodges in the Himalaya: Amankora, Six Senses, COMO Uma and Pemako among them, often with spas, fine dining and dramatic valley settings. For a more intimate experience, we can arrange traditional farmhouse stays where you live alongside a Bhutanese family.
Where and what to eat
Most meals are included in your programme and served buffet-style at your hotel, with a mix of Bhutanese, Indian, Chinese and continental dishes, so there is always something for every palate — vegetarians and vegans are easily catered for. We are also happy to arrange meals at local restaurants and farmhouse dinners, where you can taste authentic, home-cooked Bhutanese food at its fiery best.
