Tsirang

Terraced farmland and gentle southern hills

  • Terraced farmland
  • Subtropical botanical garden
  • Rolling southern hills
  • Rural homestays

Tsirang is a mild, agricultural district in south-central Bhutan, a landscape of rolling terraced fields, evergreen forest and gentle hills. Warm and green for much of the year, it is one of the country's most important farming regions and a peaceful, refreshingly uncrowded destination.

The district is known for its orderly villages, sub-tropical crops and a well-kept botanical garden, as well as for its ethnically diverse and famously welcoming communities. Free of high passes and dramatic altitude, Tsirang offers easy walking and a relaxed, accessible introduction to rural southern Bhutan.

For travellers seeking farm stays, everyday village life and a softer, greener side of the kingdom, Tsirang is a quiet gem well off the beaten track.
